Sometimes all you need is a quick getaway to feel like yourself again. For my husband and me, that meant driving two hours out of the city to a hidden gem tucked away in the forest: StoneHaven Le Manoir. More than just a hotel, it’s the kind of place where time slows down, nature surrounds you, and food becomes an experience. And honestly? It was exactly what I needed.
The Setup: A Night Without Kids
We love our children endlessly, but let’s be honest—sometimes you need space to breathe, connect, and most importantly… rest. My husband, sensing how much I needed it, took matters into his own hands. He found StoneHaven, conveniently close to his parents’ chalet, which made it easy for us to leave the kids in the loving care of their grandparents for the night. The plan was simple: one night of freedom, and he nailed it.
My essentials: wine, makeup and heels:

A Ceramic Dream at 1001 Pots
Before checking in, we made a detour to 1001 Pots, a ceramic fair that transforms the town of Val-David into an artistic paradise each summer. More than a hundred ceramic artists showcase their creations, from whimsical mugs to sculptural pieces that look like they belong in a gallery. I was in heaven. I wanted to take everything home, but I restrained myself to three treasures: a delicate pink salad bowl, a mug with a bow-like handle, and a rich emerald-green tray. Each piece felt like carrying a little bit of the festival’s magic with me.

A Perfect Meal in Sainte-Adèle
On our way, we stopped for lunch at a cozy local restaurant in Sainte-Adèle. We feasted on fresh, comforting food that tasted like it was made with love, and I even discovered a crisp white wine so good I bought a bottle to bring home. With the sun shining and the sky clear, it already felt like the day was aligning perfectly.

Welcome to StoneHaven
By the time we arrived at StoneHaven, I was already relaxed. At check-in, the concierge smiled and told us we were lucky: our room had one of the most requested balconies in the hotel. A butler escorted us upstairs, and as soon as I saw it, I understood why. The balcony was huge, with lounging chairs and a panoramic view of the forest and pool below. The room itself was elegant and cozy, with a bathroom that could easily double as a spa.
Naturally, we headed straight for the pool, soaking in the jacuzzi before grabbing Hugo spritz cocktails at the bar. It was the perfect prelude to the real highlight of our stay: dinner.

The Gastronomic Experience
StoneHaven is known for its culinary program, led by a chef who takes pride in transforming local, seasonal ingredients into an unforgettable dining experience. The restaurant offers both à la carte and tasting menus, but my husband knew what would make me happiest: the seven-course gastronomic menu.
From the very first cocktail to the last bite, it was nothing short of extraordinary. Each dish had a wow factor—that moment when you take a bite and can’t help but look at the person across from you with wide eyes. We paired the dishes with champagne and a few cocktails, which probably explains why I can’t recall every detail of the complex menu. But what I do remember is the feeling: being in culinary heaven, one dish after another, sharing glances of amazement with my husband.

Morning Gratitude
The next morning, I brewed coffee and stepped out onto the balcony, soaking in the view of endless trees. In that quiet moment, I felt deeply grateful—for the beauty around me, for my husband who chose this place so thoughtfully, and for the rare chance to just be.
We didn’t have much time before check-out, but we still managed to sneak into the steam room before showering and packing up. Leaving the hotel, I felt torn. I missed my kids, but I also longed to stretch that feeling of freedom and rest just a little longer.

The Perfect Couple’s Getaway
StoneHaven is more than just a hotel—it’s an experience. Whether you’re looking to reconnect with your partner, indulge in exceptional food, or simply rest surrounded by nature, it delivers on all fronts. The setting is romantic, the service attentive, and the restaurant worth the trip alone.
If you’re a couple looking for a romantic escape, I can’t recommend it enough. Come for the food, stay for the view, and leave with your heart a little fuller.
