When it comes to skincare, I don’t play around. I take it seriously—not just with my at-home routine but with treatments, too. Over the years, I’ve explored a wide range of professional skincare options: lasers, microneedling, radiofrequency, and machine facials like HydraFacial, Bella, and others that promise glowing skin in under an hour.
As a beauty lover and naturally curious person, I was intrigued by these high-tech options. I loved the idea of personalized serums, targeted treatments, and the efficiency of it all. Plug in, glow out. And while they weren’t bad—the results were decent—I always walked away feeling like something was missing. The treatments felt mechanical, rushed, and honestly… impersonal.
Then I booked a facial with my now-forever esthetician.
Let me just say: it completely changed how I see professional skincare.
What I experienced was a perfect mix of old-school technique and modern technology—a facial that blended thoughtful skincare with a human touch. Yes, there were tools like microdermabrasion and a few other devices I couldn’t name, but the magic was in her hands. The care. The pace. The presence.
It wasn’t a one-hour, plug-and-play treatment. It was over two hours of being looked after with intention. She cleansed, exfoliated, extracted, treated, and massaged every inch of my face with complete attention. While my mask was setting, she massaged my hands and scalp—I swear I left my body. It was heaven.
The difference was undeniable. My skin glowed. My shoulders dropped. I felt relaxed and taken care of—not just treated.
Machine facials can be great for quick results or a midday pick-me-up, but if you want a deep clean, a glow-from-within finish, and a full-on relaxing experience, nothing compares to a hands-on facial with someone who actually knows your skin.
Plus, there’s something powerful about supporting local estheticians who pour their hearts (and expertise) into their work. It’s not a one-size-fits-all system—it’s tailored, intentional, and infused with care. That alone makes a world of difference.

So, to each their own. But when it comes to facials, I’m going back to basics—and I’m not looking back.
Give me the real deal. The royal treatment. The skin-to-soul reset.
I’ll take magic hands over machines any day.
