It is very easy to blame a product, after all don’t we buy things because they promise miraculous things? We are trapped in social media, influencer promising the world with one product that does it all, the run don’t walk messages that makes us believe that we are going to miss out, and at the end, you end up with deceptions.

But is it the products fault? It can be in some way but also, it is the correct application that will give you results. You don’t need to buy a product each time you see a new launch in hopes that finally this one will be the one that solves your problems, and probably makes you forget your ex.

But this is why i am here, i am not here to make you buy another product but to help you use what you already have. I am not saying i wont influence you in other things, but i will only do it if i am firmly convinced.

So why is your concealer not working? You might be doing some of the steps wrong.

1- you are not hydrating the area. Not hydrating your under eye is a big NO NO, because your concealer will dry and it will create more creasing.

2- applying an excessive amount, truth is, concealer is way more dense in texture and has more coverage than foundation so, a little goes a loooong way. Applying to much not only will waste your product but it will make your under eye area look heavy and it will appear that you have more wrinkles than you should. Apply a small amount in the palm on your hand and use a brush to grab the product and then apply it to the under eye but not close to your water line.

3- applying in the wrong areas, sometime we apply concealer all over our under eye area, this can make your makeup look heavy and instead of correcting can highlight the problems, apply a small amount just where you start seeing discoloration, and blend with a brush in tapping motions to make the product stay in place.

3- you apply a concealer that is way to light, applying a light concealer with the hopes that it will brighten up your under eye area Isa. Very common mistake. A very light color can make your under eye look gray,( we are not trying to emphasize that we have been not sleeping), choose a concealer that is on shade or the same shade as your skin tone, this will look more uniform and will actually cover discoloration, and will make your skin look even and fresh. If you want to brighten up, you can do that afterwards.

4- not setting, leaving concealer without setting is like a waste of time with what you just did, it will crease, vanish and it will move around making it look messy, apply a form of setting powder or pressed powder, and if you are too scared of powders, a setting spray will do. Use a brush to apply some setting spray and just tap on top of your concealer once its dry.

This are my non negociables when applying concealer, it might look like it is a lot, but it’s not. Once you master your concealer game, you wont fall for another “OMG are you seeing this” or “OBSESSED with this concealer” type of comment.
