If every day is an opportunity and the present is all that truly matters, then why not romanticize the little moments in life? Even something as simple as taking a shower.

I don’t want to wait for a special occasion or the “right time” to start turning everyday routines into meaningful rituals. My shower is my time to reset—to wash away worries and center myself before the day begins.

I used to cherish these moments at night, washing away the day before bed. But as my kids started staying up later, exhaustion took over, and my once peaceful nighttime showers turned into rushed tasks. Every time I tried to unwind, one of my sons would find his way into the bathroom, waiting for me to finish so I could put him back to bed. My sanctuary was broken.

So, I made a change. Now, I take my showers in the morning, right after dropping my kids off at daycare. I work out, then step into my moment of self-care—the time I look forward to. Before diving into emails, errands, or responsibilities, I set the mood and ease into the day.

How I Romanticize My Shower

First, I create an ambiance. I light a candle and play soft, relaxing music. I invested in an Alexa Pop during an Amazon sale, and it was one of the best purchases—just adding spa music instantly transforms my bathroom into a retreat.

In the shower, I use products that feel indulgent, like a sensory experience for the mind and body. One of my absolute favorites is the L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil—it smells divine and leaves my skin feeling silky.

After stepping out, I wrap myself in a plush hotel-style robe from IKEA and slip on cozy bath slippers. I swear this small touch makes me feel like I’m at a five-star resort. Then, I take ten minutes to unwind with my LED mask. I’d love to say I meditate during this time, but in reality, I scroll through social media—and I fully enjoy it.

My skincare routine is another part of this ritual. I take my time, allowing each product to absorb fully, massaging my face as if I were getting a professional facial. It’s the little things that make all the difference.

For my body, I love using Nécessaire’s The Body Lotion in Hinoki. The velvety texture and subtle woodsy scent feel incredibly luxurious—like a mini spa treatment at home.

Once I’m done, I move on to choosing my outfit and deciding whether I want to do my makeup (or skip it, depending on my mood). But no matter what, after a slow, intentional morning shower, I feel refreshed, energized, and in a good headspace for the day.

Of course, I don’t always have time for a long, luxurious shower like this, but when I do, I cherish it. And I encourage you to do the same. Romanticize the little things that bring you joy. Whether it’s a shower, your morning coffee, or a quiet moment alone—turning the ordinary into something special is what makes everyday life feel beautiful. We all deserve that.
